Albert Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist who developed the general theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics. He received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1921, but not for relativity. His theories of special and general relativity are of great importance to many branches of physics and astronomy. They have been given experimental confirmation through many experiments and observations. Einstein is well known for his theories about light, matter, gravity, space, and time. His most well known equation is E=mc^2. It means that energy and mass are ”Two forms of the same thing”.

Marie Curie is a woman of many outstanding firsts. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize in physics in 1903. Eight years later, she became the first person and only woman to win the Nobel Prize twice. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, her two wins also cemented her as the only person to have ever won the Nobel Prize in two different scientific fields — physics and chemistry.

He was born 300 years after the death of the scientist Galileo, so maybe it was written in the stars that he would become a famous scientist in his own right. Although he was diagnosed with a neurological disease, he did not let the illness define his life. Known for his work in physics, and identified by his wheelchair and computerized voice system, Stephen continued his research until his death in 2018.

Alan Turing was a British mathematician who took a leading role in breaking Nazi ciphers during WWII. In his seminal 1936 paper, he proved that there cannot exist any universal algorithmic method of determining truth in mathematics, and that mathematics will always contain undecidable propositions. His work is widely acknowledged as foundational research of computer science and artificial intelligence.

# margaret hamilton/ Little Ms. Astronaut

was an American computer scientist who was one of the first computer software programmers; she created the term ”software engineer” to describe her work. She helped write the computer code for the command and lunar modules used on the Apollo missions to the Moon in the late 1960s and early ’70s.

Zaha Hadid was an Iraqi-born British architect. She became the first woman to receive the Pritzker Prize (2004).

Hadid's buildings are neo-futuristic, characterized by curving forms with "multiple perspective points and fragmented geometry to evoke the chaos of modern life".

# wassily kandinsky/ Mr. Messy

Wassily Kandinsky was a Russian painter, printmaker and art theorist. He was one of the most important 20th-century artists. He was a major figure in modern art and painted some of the first modern abstract works. His art changed several times during his life. It was fauvist, abstract, expressionist and constructivist in turn.

Pablo Picasso was a Spanish painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist and stage designer considered one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century. Picasso is credited, along with Georges Braque, with the creation of Cubism.

# al-khwarizmi /Mr. Algorithm

was a Persian Muslim mathematician and astronomer. He was believed to have been born around 800 AD and died in 850 AD during the Abbasid Empire. His major works introduced Hindu-Arabic numerals and the concepts of algebra into European mathematics. Latinized versions of his name and of his most famous book title live on in the terms algorithm and algebra.

Leonard Euler was a Swiss mathematician and physicist. He made important discoveries in fields like calculus and topology. He also made many of the words used in math today. He came up with the idea of a mathematical function. He is also known for his works in mechanics, optics, and astronomy.

Nikola Tesla was a Serbian-American inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, and futurist. One of the most influential scientists of all time, Nikola Tesla is celebrated for his experiments in electricity, X-rays, remote controls, and wireless communications. His invention of the Tesla coil was instrumental in the development of radio technology.
